Saturday-06/16/18 - New Mexico and points northwest.

Heading west from Amarillo, TX, the terrain really changes.  Flat west Texas becomes a land of ups and downs, including typical western looking mesas.  It's cool looking.  Most of New Mexico along I-40 heading to Albuquerque was the same.

We were happy to see this.

After getting to Albuquerque, we turned northwest on 1st US-550 and later US-64.  We stopped in Kirtland, NM for the night.  We head up to the four corners tomorrow.

After that, I don't know what we will do.  We're 2 days ahead of schedule, and the place we were planning on going to on the 19th, Capital Reef NP is better suited for folks who use ATV's etc.  We'll figure out something.

On the way to Kirtland, we crossed the continental divide at 7,382 feet.  It's a relatively flat 7k+ altitude.  No 11k peaks in sight yet.

Until next time.
